August Blooms. . .

It’s hard to believe that the month of Aug. is coming to an end.  Kids have headed back to school and cooler mornings and evenings are a delight.

I thought I would share what’s blooming in my August garden.

Liatris.

My friend, Kathy gave me these Canna bulbs.  I have loved their beautiful blooms.

The hummingbirds have loved both the Canna and Zinnia blossoms.  They are planted outside our family room window.  A few times the hummers have flown right up to the window as if to take a peek inside.

My small black eyes have been so tall this year that I keep having to cut some down because they fall over.

IMG_7749

This gorgeous Hibiscus delights me with new blooms daily.

IMG_7614

Roses are coming back for a second showing.

IMG_7754

Cosmos and miniature Hollyhocks.

IMG_7629

I love it when friends come to visit.  One morning I had these cuties pop in to say hi.

IMG_7728

Some of them preferred higher ground.  You can see that my Sweet Potato Vine is starting to trail down the rock wall.

IMG_7729

My friend, Amanda gave me these starts of what she said was a perennial impatiens.  I had never heard of them before.  Love the sweet blossom.

IMG_7742

Ice Plant newly planted this Spring.

IMG_7755

I have been cutting back my annual planters and they are starting to put on a second show.

This one made me laugh.  It’s easy to see that the left side is much happier than the right.

How does your garden grow?  Won’t be long before I will be putting my beds to rest.

They are so beautiful - I love the blooms, all the colors and all the types! I am trying to get the beds cleaned out after neglecting them this whole year.

Pretty photos of your garden, and I really do love the photo of the little hummingbird!

So loved the white phlox. They always had a problem in my garden with rust and mildew. The cosmos also plagued this year and black eyed susans, mine were very short this year.

Amazing photo of the hummingbird! Your garden is lovely. Really, you are TOO perfect. Next time I expect a stink bug in the mix so I won't feel so inadequate!

What beautiful flowers. I love your phlox...mine did not do well at all this year. Your little visitors are pretty cute. Did you invite them to dinner? xo Diana

What a beautiful garden! So many blooms! Between the voles and the heat, my garden has had a pretty tough time this year. Only the weeds have grown well. At least there's always next year!

What an incredible oasis you have created, Jann! I would be outside all the time with such a beautiful backyard. How I love the fashionable little birds! They look so fine with their cute little headfeather pointing the way.
Thank you for sharing the fruits of your labor, my sweet friend!

Hi Jann. You definitely have a lovely
garden... you must love to be out in the yard. It's so hot here in Kansas that all my flowers just didn't do well. Maybe you would like to share a few of your secrets! Love everything outdoors, like the birdbaths, anything cement, such as the benches and all the lovely statuary! Always so nice visiting your inspiring blog! xx Pam

I can't say that I'm not jealous of all the color in your yard! Your flowers are gorgeous!!! You must have worked hard to keep them so pretty through the entire summer.
Thank you for visiting me and taking the time to say something so kind about the guest room!
Blessings,
Leslie

I really need to plant some phlox Jann! Yours are so pretty. My annuals in my hangers finally succumbed to the record breaking temps. I just couldn't keep up with them. All of your gardens and flowers are so refreshing! Thank you for sharing them at the party this week. I have featured this post on my Facebook page ♥

I am a sucker for gardens! If I only have two minutes here or there to visit pics on a linky the garden ones draw me in first! I love your phlox. I used to have phlox, did not have any for a few years, bought some this year and then they died off after blooming. ( Though I watered faithfully )
Now I wonder if they'll come back later if we have an extended warm fall..

You have so much other stuff going on, though....beautiful !!! :)

How does my garden grow? Well, we have many of the same varieties, but mine look downright sparse compared to your beautiful blooms! What lovely gardens you have! :) --Fran

Great looking flowers! Anything that draws in hummers is a good thing! I like all your different kinds of planters! Love the friends that visited! Cute!
I'm still waiting for a flower to show up on my Hibiscus. I have some cannas I planted and I just got my first flowers. They were supposed to be red but they are orange! LOL... oh well!

What a beautiful garden you have, Jann, and I especially love the picture of the hummingbird eating at the zinnia--what a great shot! The quail are so beautiful as well. All your containers look great--I just watered and fertilized mine for the week before it gets hot again here.
